Bo Bo: Harimau Malaya can dream on

KUALA LUMPUR: Myanmar have sounded out a warning to Malaysia not to have such high hopes of making the semi-finals of the AFF Cup as they will not make it easy for the national side and will do whatever it takes to get the better of them when the two sides clash in their final Group A match at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil this Saturday.
Myanmar, who are coached by German Antoine Hey have proved that they are no pushovers when they managed to frustrate and hold mighty Vietnam to a goalless draw in Yangon yesterday (Tuesday).
The result sees Myanmar level on seven points with Vietnam as they retain top spot in Group A through goal difference and only need a draw against Malaysia to advance to the semi-finals of the competition.
However, Myanmar midfield general Hlaing Bo Bo believes that they have shown that they are worthy contenders in being crowned champions based on their current performance.
"We knew all along that Vietnam and Thailand are on paper, the strongest teams in the region, but last night (Tuesday) we showed everyone that we have what it takes and that we are a dangerous side that should not be taken lightly,” said Bo Bo via a statement released on website www.affsuzukicup.com.
The White Angels squad have never made it to the final of the AFF Cup and their best showing to date has been making the semi-finals of the 2004/05 and 2016 editions where they were eliminated by Malaysia who notched a narrow 1-0 win in Yangon.
Even though a draw would be enough to see Myanmar through to the semi-finals, Bo Bo was adamant that they will be going all out for a win and nothing less.
"We will not be playing for a point nor a draw, we are after all three points and only a win will suffice as this is our goal,” said the Yadnarbon FC player.
However, Bo Bo admitted that 2010 champions Malaysia will not be easy to beat as the Harimau Malaya squad will have home ground advantage while playing in front of thousands of fans, just as Myanmar did last night (Tuesday) in Yangon against Vietnam.
"We played really well against Vietnam, and we intend on playing similarly well against Malaysia to repay the faith and support that our fans have shown us. We are focused on going all out against Malaysia on Saturday to ensure that we get maximum points and keep on going in the competition,” stressed Bo Bo.
