Dato' Haji Hamidin terpilih sebagai Ahli Jawatankuasa Eksekutif AFC
Presiden Persatuan Bolasepak Malaysia (FAM), Dato’ Haji Hamidin bin Haji Mohd Amin terpilih sebagai ahli Jawatankuasa Eksekutif Konfederasi Bolasepak Asia (AFC) pada Kongres AFC ke-29 di Kuala Lumpur, hari ini.
Dato’ Haji Hamidin, 53, adalah antara tiga ahli antara zon Asean yang dipilih selain Chris Nikou dari Persekutuan Bolasepak Australia (FFA) dan Dr Tran Quoc Tuan dari Persekutuan Bolasepak Vietnam (VFF) untuk mengisi tiga slot zon berkenaan. Mereka menang tanpa bertanding selepas calon dari Singapura, Winston Lee, menarik diri pada saat akhir.
Ahli exco lain yang terpilih untuk penggal 2019-2023 ialah Abed-Alkhaliq Masoud Ahmed (Iraq); Hachem Haider (Lebanon); Sheikh Salem Said Salem Al Wahaibi (Oman); Dr Hamid Mohammed Ali Al-Shaibani (Yemen) dari Zon Barat, Sayed Ali Reza Aghazada (Afghanistan – Zon Tengah), Dasho Ugen Tsechup Dorji (Bhutan – zon Selatan) dan Eric Fok Kai Shan Eric (Hong Kong – Zon Timur).
Dato’ Haji Hamidin berkata:
“Ini penghormatan buat FAM dan Malaysia amnya. Saya berharap untuk bukan sahaja mewakili suara Malaysia dan Asean di AFC tetapi turut membina hubungan lebih erat dengan rakan-rakan persatuan yang juga ahli gabungan AFC dalam misi menaikkan lagi standard bola sepak kita. “
Pemilihan Dato’ Haji Hamidin memastikan tradisi pemimpin FAM dalam AFC menerusi pelbagai kapasiti berterusan sejak Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj terpilih selaku Presiden AFC di Tokyo tanggal 29 Mei, 1958.
Dalam Kongres AFC ini, Presidennya, Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa dari Bahrain mengekalkan jawatan presidennya tanpa bertanding selepas penarikan diri Mohamed Khalfan Matar Saeed Al Romaithi (UAE) dan Saoud A. Aziz M A Al-Mohannadi (Qatar).
Hadir ke Kongres AFC ialah Presiden FIFA Gianni Infantino dan Setiausaha Agung FIFA, Fatma Samoura.

Dato’ Haji Hamidin Elected as AFC Exco Member
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) President, Dato’ Haji Hamidin bin Haji Mohd Amin, was elected as a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) executive committee in the 69th AFC Congress in Kuala Lumpur today.
Dato’ Haji Hamidin, 53, was one of three members from the Asean zone elected into office, alongside Chris Nikou of Football Federation of Australia (FFA) and Dr Tran Quoc Tuan of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). They won uncontested for the three available slots after the candidate from Singapore, Winston Lee, withdrew from the race at the last minute.
Other exco members elected into office for the term 2019-2023 were Mr. Abed-Alkhaliq Masoud Ahmed (Iraq); Mr Hachem Haider (Lebanon); Sheikh Salem Said Salem Al Wahaibi (Oman); Dr Hamid Mohammed Ali Al-Shaibani (Yemen) from the West Zone, Sayed Ali Reza Aghazada (Afghanistan – Central Zone), Dasho Ugen Tsechup Dorji (Bhutan – South Zone) and Eric Fok Kai Shan Eric (Hong Kong – East Zone);
Dato’ Haji Hamidin said:
“This is indeed an honour for FAM and Malaysia in general. I hope to be able not only to represent the voice of Malaysia and Asean in the AFC but also build a strong rapport with other member associations as we seek to raise our standard.”
Dato’ Haji Hamidin’s election ensures a fine tradition of FAM leaders holding various positions in AFC is being maintained since Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj was elected as the AFC President in the AFC Congress in Bangkok on May 29, 1958.
The Congress saw incumbent President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain being returned unopposed for the position of AFC President and FIFA Vice-President for a second term following the withdrawal of His Excellency Mohamed Khalfan Matar Saeed Al Romaithi (UAE) and Mr. Saoud A. Aziz M A Al-Mohannadi (Qatar).
Gracing the Congress were FIFA President Gianni Infantino and FIFA General Secretary Fatma Samoura.
